Story No 4 : Korean Family Anniversary Celebration

Korean Family Anniversary Celebration is a celebration to be remembered, give respect and asking for their ancestors to keep the whole family in a good condition. My partner and I were invited by our mentor teacher to dinner with her family-in law. I took this opportunity to experience the Korean Family Anniversary Celebration that is one of their culture. The reason they do this celebration is because, they believe the ancestor will take care of their family and they have a strong relationship with their ancestor in their past during the war. Interesting isn't it?

 Pic001 : Our mentor teacher said they prepared the minimum dishes for the meal and the most expensive dish is the fruit ( big pear ) because it is not easy to find the best pear.

Pic002 : The Family especially the male will bow to give respect to their ancestor 

 Pic003 : The head of family and his son were feeding the ancestor and I saw the door was opened to invite their ancestor soul to come and celebrate. 

Pic004: All the dishes will be eaten by the family member including the guest as the dinner.

 Pic005: After the ceremony, the female family members will prepare food for their family. 

 Pic006: This is a rice cake and the peanut on the top is one of their recipe and I recognise the Korean people love to fry using flour. So it is easy to find and buy flour here. 

That was the day where my partner and I had experienced the Korean family dinner and I think the way to respect the ancestor is similar with the Chinese tradition where they have to prepare the food, feeding and bowing in front of the altar as a sign to give respect. So I can conclude that, they still have this strong believe and the Korean people wanted to live in a peace living. That's all for a short story about the Korean family ceremony.
